Varnish is a web accelerator platform, which caches content for quicker response times. It is occasionally called an HTTP reverse proxy as well and it interacts between a web server and an Internet browser. When a site visitor accesses a given page, its content is requested by the web browser, and then the web server handles this browser request and returns the necessary info. If Varnish is enabled for a specific website, it will cache its pages at the first request and in case the user opens a cached page again, the data will be delivered by the caching platform instead of the web server. The improved speed is a result of the substantially faster response time that the Varnish platform offers as compared to any web server software. Of course, this doesn’t mean that the website visitors will continue seeing the exact same content over and over again, since any modification on any of the pages is reflected in the content that Varnish saves in its memory.

Varnish in Shared Hosting

In case you host your sites under a shared hosting account with us, you’ll be able to activate Varnish with several clicks of the mouse through your hosting Control Panel. The content caching platform is offered as an optional upgrade with all our shared plans and you can select how many websites will use it and the total storage space that will be used for the cached data. The two features that can be upgraded in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel are the amount of memory and the number of instances and they’re not tied directly to each other, so you can decide if you want plenty of memory for one single large-sized website or less memory for multiple smaller ones. You can use the full potential of the Varnish platform if the websites use a dedicated IP. With the hosting Control Panel, you can effortlessly start/restart/remove an instance, delete the cached content individually for each site which uses the Varnish platform or check an exhaustive log file.

Varnish in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Varnish is a feature, which is included as standard with all Linux semi-dedicated hosting offered by us and you can use it for workload distribution purposes. It’s available in your Hepsia Control Panel. The Varnish content caching platform comes with 64 megabytes of system memory for cached content storing purposes and you can employ it with any Internet site that you host in your account. In case you are in need of more than that, you can increase the memory allocation. The memory itself is available in increments of 32 MB in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel. The exact same Upgrades section will allow you to enable more instances as well, in case you’d like to use Varnish with more websites. The two things can be ordered separately – you can cache the content of a single resource-heavy website or use a number of Internet sites with the default memory allowance. You can take full advantage of the Varnish caching platform in case you have a dedicated IP and you can order one with your semi-dedicated server plan as well. The Hepsia Control Panel will give you full control over the caching platform and, with no more than one click of the mouse, you’ll be able to delete the cached contents, to check a log or to reboot an instance.

Varnish in VPS

You can use Varnish with any of our virtual private server plans at no extra fee, since the caching platform is pre-installed and is included by default. The only requirement is that the VPS server must come with the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you will be able to activate Varnish for any of your websites with just a few clicks of the mouse. Each VPS plan features a different amount of memory for data caching purposes, but you will have no less than several hundred megabytes, which is quite sufficient even for multiple resource-requiring Internet sites. Soon after you set up Varnish, it will start caching the content that your visitors browse, so you’ll notice the tremendously faster page load speeds and the decreased load on the virtual server very soon. Varnish will allow you to use a less costly Virtual Private Server, as you won’t require that many resources to warrant the proper operation of your sites even if you’ve got resource-consuming Internet sites with plenty of visitors. Optimum results are accomplished if the sites that use the Varnish platform use also a dedicated IP.

Varnish in Dedicated Hosting

If you order a dedicated server with the Hepsia Control Panel, you will get the Varnish content caching platform at no extra fee and you’ll have total control over it via an exceptionally user-friendly graphical interface – you will be able to start, to discontinue or to reboot an instance, to check a comprehensive system log, to delete the cached files associated with any site and much, much more. The Varnish caching platform will have several gigabytes of memory at its disposal, so even if you host resource-hungry Internet sites with multiple visitors, you’ll notice the significantly faster site loading times and the reduced load. This will become a fact shortly after you start using the Varnish platform, as it will require a certain amount of time to cache the pages that users access. You can get the most out of the platform’s capability if the websites that are using it use also a dedicated IP, but owing to the fact that your server comes with several IPs by default, you won’t have to pay anything on top of the monthly fee for the machine itself.
